The young people (Romania, Spain, Italy, Hungary) got the task to create videos to raise awareness on using the internet and social media. This is what they have created with the topic of cyberbullying.

Dear Diary…

One month ago, I decided to join an Erasmus + project about media and I have been here for a week now. I saw the project on social media and since the theme was for my liking I decided to come. On the day of the arrival we faced an interesting story at frontier, one of our friend from Spain was not allowed to enter Romania. The cause of that was some documentation problem and sadly she had to go back, we feel sorry for her. Upon our arrival at the accommodation, I met the people from Spain, Italy, Hungary and Romania. The warm welcome and energy from the project members at the accommodation made me feel at home. During the project days we enjoyed the non-formal ways of teaching about fake news and social media. We learned some techniques to find the source or the reality of news with various team projects. Learned how to work in a team, create new ideas, how to make the news at the local news studio. After a day of hard work, we decided to sit back and relax a bit at the local pool par

I will participate in another E+ because…

Days. Just a few days. That is the amount of time that we need to get close to one another, to meet friends that we will feel to have known forever. Erasmus+ is not only an European program to encourage their citizens to get closer to each other and learn about different topics: it is a compound of feelings that you will not be able to get rid off in a while, it is a life learning experience that might change you forever, it is a set of memories that you will carry in your backpack. Why do we like it so much? Why are these projects so life-changing? First of all, and probably the most important: the people you meet. Any experience is rememorable when you are surrounded by extraordinary people who you can share it with. When you have this main ingredient, it does not really matter the location, the lack of sleeping or even the activities. And this point might be linked with the next one: the intensity of the experiences. You live one or two weeks 24/7 with these new mates so in a litt

Three new things we have learnt on a Youth Exchange

Let's start with what we all learned for sure, CONSIDERATION IN OTHERS CAN MAKE A GREAT ENVIRONMENT. Sounds uthopical, but it's absolutely true. You cannot imagine how peaceful we feel with the others, indeed we could say we are a small community. We are around 30 people from 4 different countries with such different backgrounds. Each of us has an own history that makes the experience unique. From a guitar master to teachers, sport trainer or law students, we are so different, what we found that its possible to have a beautiful time together leaning from each other behaviour, past, culture and jokes. Do you know what a couple of lovers is? Do you remember the first month? We all have that feeling. Those ten days have been nearly perfect. From these  days we are now able to recognise some Hungarian words, different types of wine or how to dribble the prize with local market sellers, indeed it was funny. We made drawings, we watched movies, we filmed videos and we were our own

THE MEDIA-MAZE – KNOW IT, USE IT!

Another Erasmus+ youth exchange program is being organized in Săcueni, Romania with the participation of young Hungarian, Italian, Romanian, and Spanish people. As the heading suggests the participants work on the topic of media via several various tasks getting to know other cultures and improving their language knowledge, precisely English. Youth exchange programs aim to give the possibility for participants to work on a specific topic each time. On this occasion, young people aged 18-30 are expected to get more information about safely using the internet, recognize fake news, and think in a critical way to filter information spreading in the virtual world. They do this through diverse tasks and activities, working together and getting to know each other. The program lasts 10 days. During this time, they also visit the studio of the local “Ér Hangja Association” where they can try doing podcasts, taking photos, making videos, and writing blog posts. The participants also can visit th

Cultural exchange project introduced by Media Maze+

Alice is Italian. Her English is developing, but talking about an article we found important her to could express her thoughts in her mother tongue. So, we agreed to make a blogwriting experiment of using a translation application. Alice wrote her article in Italian and we put Deepl.com to translate for us to English.  Please read her Italian article, and below the English version. Free travels around Europe? See how a youth exchange works.

BY ESVEIKI Hello, buenas or csókolom! In a period of 10 days youngsters from different countries of Europe have had lived together an amazing experience totally paid for by the European Union. This trip is an Erasmus+ programme, more specifically a youth exchange. Those are short courses between 5 and 21 days long, with people between 13 to 30 years old for as minimum as two different partners from the Union. Its base is the promotion of multiculturalism, open mindset and respect, where a topic is explained in a non formal education mode. That modality of projects brought to Sacueni [Romania], Italian, Spanish, Hungarian and Romanian youngsters. They had received information about how to avoid fake news, how the media works and other communication gems. But those programmes are not only for formation. Being in this type of environment creativity appears so the participants are able to do things that they wouldn't do at home. Do you know someone who jumps from a plane? These young p

ChatGPT experiment in blogging

Blog article writing task we have made during this E+ Youth Exchange. One of our exercises was to use the ChatGPT to see how we can teach the AI, how can we use the AI in our lives.  Riccardo wrote the article entirely using ChatGPT. Please see his prompts, then answers. First he wasn't satisfied with the answer, as he wanted to be it more likely to be read by young people, so he asked AI to use a more simplified English to express itself.   Scroll through his experiment.    Prompt #1 (this is what Riccardo wrote in the ChatGPT):  The media-maze project is a youth exchange that aims to discuss  with young people the challenges that new communication media pose, offering them theoretical and/or practical support. The project is important to ensure that young people surf the internet safely, to prevent the dangers that may arise from online surfing, and to teach young participants to filter the information avaiable online and to check it's origin and veracity.
